My laptop died. Have a new one. I did have the old one backed up with Carbonite. I want to import netscape 9 password files from my old laptop to Firefox 3 in my new one - but I can't find where password data is stored in netscape or what it is named. Once I know that, I can try to find it in the back-up files. Haven't had any luck with googling - anything I found didn't work. I did find a signons2.txt file and I know that's related to netscape 9 password data as well as a key3 file. But neither is in a format that can be imported to Firefox. And just putting these two files in the Firefox profile folder didn't work.

    Can anyone help??

Where is password file in Netscape 9?? Found it!

For anyone who is interested - There are 3 files associated with passwords in Netscape that can be copied in to the Firefox profile folder: cert8, key3, and signons2. NOTE - 'signons2' needs to be renamed to 'signons3' if using Firefox 3. I did have these files backed up so I could retrieve the Netscape files; then I copied them into my Firefox profile on the new machine - and I'm back in business.
