Hi, I just installed win xp, everything went fine, but a member of the family (who knows who) was costumizing the pc and it changed the windows theme. Now it looks like win 98 and we can not get back the win xp theme. It is not in the "appearances and themes ". Actually there is 2 themes, windows classic and windows xp and I tried already both and still the same as win 98.
How can I get it back?. Can I instal it again?.
    Any ideas?

Browse in the Theme control panel for Windows\Resources\Themes folder and see what choices you have.

Also, in Control Panel, Admin Tools, Services, be sure the Theme service is set to automatic and started.

Hi, I tried everything and could not get it back.
So as the Os was just 1 day old and nothing important in it, I re-installed it.
Thank you all for your help and time.

Right click on the Desktop and select properties then the Apperance tab.

Someone may have change the Windows and Buttons settings.

thanks for the followup, caraloca. That may have been the easiest thing to do if it isn't very old. You may have solved other, as yet undiscovered, problems as well.
