After retiring as a chartered accountant I did a masters degree in theoretical physics which involved masses of computer modeling of complex physical systems using Mathematica. This was about 10 years ago. That's when I really dived in the deep end - until then I was a PC novice - but fortunately I had young fellow students who took pity on a real oldie (I'm now 80) and helped me out with all my Windows etc problems (in my career I was involved with commercial systems mainly programmed in COBOL). Since leaving uni I have been lost when having Windows problems (and boy don't we all have them!!) but since finding Windows BSS the other day I already feel relaxed and have had the solution to a problem clarified by Wildfire and Steve Jones for which many thanks

Steve - I agree. Here we are with you in Texas, Wildfire in Scotland and me on the south coast of England all talking about a Microsoft product. Maybe next stop Alaska. By the way Wildfire I'm sorry I make you feel so old - you aint seen nuttin yet with about 40 at least more years to go, I guess
Incidentally, being a newcomer I have invariably broken a protocol rule and was picked up for it by our Forum boss in a reply I tried to post a few minutes ago. I'll have to think of another way of dealing with this. Sorry about the mystery which is about a non-Microsoft product which, nevertheless, runs on Windows. I think I need to open a new thread for it
