I eventually get some time to try Windows 7. Can someone give me a reliable and safe weblink to download a Windows 7 Home Premium for testing?

Scroll down to the bottom here Select x86 (32-bit) or x64 (64-bit). You will need, at least, a Hotmail address and the version is RTM Enterprise.

As you'll note, the only evaluation version available from Microsoft is the Enterprise version.

    I downloaded the DLM file.

From http://technet.microsoft.com/en-au/evalcenter/ee388361.aspx, I tried to create a DVD as below:

    ****************************************
Q: How do I create an installation DVD?

A: Insert a blank DVD into your PC’s DVD drive. Navigate to the downloaded Windows 7 Enterprise 90-Day Trial file. Right-click the file and select Burn disc image, then click the Burn button when the Windows Disc Image Burner dialog appears. A bootable DVD is created. Alternatively, you can commercially-available or free DVD burning programs.
    ***********************************************

But the right-click couldn't find the Windows Disc Image BUrner dialog and thus I was unable to burn a DVD.

What's wrong? And is there any alternative method to burn the DVD?

Do you have a burner software like Roxio installed?

That's an old PC. But it has an LG DVD drive bundling with Nero Express, InCD, Roxio Express. It used to clone DVD by CloneDVD and from which I found a VSO Burn Engine, and I also have a choice of Internal burn engine.
