    HI
I just wondered if the problems with the October win10 update has been solved as I do not want to risk losing files or the dreaded Blue screen of death. The last I heard is that Microsoft warned against checking for updates to see if a new update was available, I wonder why they did not remove the update until the problem had been solved.

I don't know where you get your information or who's feeding it to you, but it is all wrong. Microsoft did pull the October update - even though it only affected about 1/10th of 1 percent of users. And don't you have a backup of your files? And the BSOD issues only affected enterprise customers, not Home and Pro users who get their updates via Windows Update.

The facts are, as they typically are, very few people had any Windows Update issues. None of my 6 systems here did. And none of the several dozen systems I am responsible for did either. The affected update has been fixed. So there's no reason not too keep your system current.

The update hasn't been released, it is still being tested.

My mistake. I forgot that was to Windows Insiders only. Thanks, Arie.

The point I should have made was it is okay to run Windows Update. Users will not be offered that faulty update because it was pulled.

Great! One of the best ways to ensure our computers are secure is to keep them updated.
