When does IE remember "Find" word?

When I use the Edit/Find (Ctrl-F) function in IE, to find text on a webpage, sometimes it remembers the last thing I searched for and sometimes it doesn't. This is fairly annoying when I am visiting lots of googled pages in sequence and want to quickly find where on the page my keyword is. Is there any way to make IE always remember the most recent word I typed in the Find box?

    I'm using XPSP2 and IE6.

    Thanks!

When I click "Cancel" to close the Find window (rather than click the Close X), it usually retains the most recent word typed in the Find box.

    Thanks! That works!

This inspired me to spend a few minutes testing things (it never occured to me that how you exit the Find box could make a difference), and now I understand why it seemed so random before.

As noted by Jim, if after using the Find function you close the window with Cancel, the next time it remembers your search term, every time .

If you search with Find successfully (meaning your search term is found somewhere on the page), then no matter how you exit the window (X, Esc, or Cancel), next time it remembers your search term.

If you search with Find UNsuccessfully, then if you exit the window with X or Esc (recall, Cancel always remembers), next time it remembers your previous successful search term, or if you didn't have one it'll be blank.

Seems kinda needlessly complicated to me....

    Thanks again!
