Here's a problem that just started when my battery goes completely dead. Before, when I would plug it back in, I would hit the power button and all would be restored to where it was before.
Now it doesn't - instead, it boots up to Windows but nothing I had before is saved, where before it was.
Can one point out to me what I must to do have the computer do what it did before should the battery go dead. I'm using a Toshiba laptop P200 with Windows Vista Home Premium.

Actually, it's not hibernation. I just noticed, that in the Power Options, under Low Battery Actions, I had it set to "sleep" - but now looking at it again, I see it had "Do Nothing" ... last evening, I set that to "sleep" again, and for some strange reason, it doesn't appear to have saved that setting.
In your judgment Steve, do you feel that particular setting should fix my problem AND why do you suppose it didn't save? I appreciate your response.

I'm just noticing now, that going to Power Options, then to Change Advanced Power Settings, that it doesn't save what I'm doing. I set the Low Battery Actions to "Sleep" - click OK and come out of there. Going back in, I notice it isn't saved, but rather again has set itself to "Do Nothing" --- can you clue me in as to why this is doing this or what I can do?

Ok - I'm going to edit this note - I'm finding for whatever reason, it IS saving the setting now. I'll still wait for replie(s) on this one - I'll have to let the battery die again to see what happens this time around. Any advice, I'm listening.

Steve, I think my brain just rebooted. I think you are probably correct. I've changed the settings from Sleep to Hibernation - when the battery goes dead again, I'll let you know what happens. I appreciate your help. Thanks!!!
