Shortly after Windows startup, my computer will be connected to the Internet. But I have to manually click on 'Connect to a network' so as to confirm the saved password before I can use the connection.
How to create the following task in the Task Scheduler? I need a path to run the command.
The task is: On Windows startup, it will run the command to 'Connect to a network', i.e. confirm the saved password.

On my Internet Explorer, I have already chosen 'always use the default connection' and 'automatically connect to a network', but that doesn't help matter.

P.S. I am using a Chinese OS, some of the above terms and phrases are translated from Chinese, so they may be different from what is actually shown on an English OS.

I assume this is a wireless connection because no password is required for a wired connection. Thus, edit the wifi connection and set it to remember password and connect automatically:
Network & Sharing Center > Manage wireless networks > Adapter properties or double click your network.

As far as I know there is no command to get the password prompt you are talking about. You can however use netsh to manage network connections. You can even use a text file of the network profile with netsh and connect to the desired wlan.
    netsh wlan connect ssid=YOURSSID name=PROFILENAME

It is a broadband connection with a cable. It is a wired connection. It reads 'WAN Miniport (PPPOE)' but I don't understand what port it is.
    What should I do?

What type of Internet do you have and who is the ISP? Your connection is not marked in your User Profile here at the forums.

Reason I ask is that if have a wired connection to a router you should not be getting any prompt for a WAN Miniport (PPPOE) connection. To get rid of that prompt open Internet Options and checkmark Never dial a connection.

Years ago, some DSL connections relied upon ISP software which setup a PPoE connection. In the US, at least, that is no longer the case. DSL ISPs provide a modem/router combo and no dialing modem is required, the connection is "always on ". The PPoE part is handled within the modem/router. In EU and elsewhere it may be different.

How to find out the type of my Internet connection? I only saw it read 'Dial-up and VPN' (translated from Chinese again). The service is called '3Home Broadband' with a speed of just 10 Mbps, the ISP is 'Hutchison Global Communications'. The site is http://www.threebb.com.hk/eng/

I don't know whether the device is a router or a modem, it reads 'SE-301 Ethernet-VDSL Bridge'.

I just did it, but password confirmation is still needed. What else can I do?

Contact your Internet provider. The device is a modem/router combination. They will be able to tell you how to fix the problem. There should be a setting in the modem for "always on ".

Do you know the command line for clicking on the 'Connect' button of it?
My problem can be solved if you know it.

Since you are using a WAN Miniport (PPPOE) connection you can use netsh to connect. See the link in my above post. netsh IS the command line program.

    >add profile filename= "Profile1.xml" interface= "Local Area Connection "
Should I use "Local Area Connection" or something else for my WAN Miniport (PPPOE) connection?

I just tried the above, but it returned a Chinese message which means 'Wired AutoConfig Service(dot3svc)has not been executed'. What should I do now?

I just went there as you said.

    It reads 'START Rasdial <connection name> <username> <password>'.
The present connection name is in Chinese, should I change it to English?

    START Rasdial Broadband_Connection Matthew_Wai 123456
I changed the Chinese connection name to Broadband_Connection, and then tried again, but it still said that the Wired AutoConfig Service(dot3svc)has not been executed. What's wrong?

P.S. the above username and password are false.

    See the attached screenshot.
I have put the 'internet-on-logon.bat' file into the Startup folder, now connection is automatic on Windows startup. How can I create a task in the Task Scheduler which enables automatic connection after waking from sleep?

    1. Open Windows Task Scheduler
    2. Select from right hand pane - "Create Basic Task "
    3. Add your Task name. Optionally add a Task description
    4. Select the Trigger - "When a specific event is logged "
    5. Select Log = System
    6. Select Source = Power-Troubleshooter
    7. Enter Event ID = 1
    8. Select "Start a Program" (default selection)

Please see the attached screenshot of my system event log.
There were no logs from the source 'Power-Troubleshooter' although my computer went to sleep at 21:07 and woke up at 21:09. Why?

To find the last reason for wakeup, use the cmd

    powercfg /lastwake

    For example:

    Code:
    C:\>powercfg /lastwake
    Wake History Count - 1
    Wake History [0]
      Wake Source Count - 1
      Wake Source [0]
        Type: Device
        Instance Path: USB\ROOT_HUB20\4&36206eee&0
        Friendly Name:
        Description: USB Root Hub
        Manufacturer: (Standard USB Host Controller)

(I had hit the [Spacebar] on my USB keyboard to wake it from sleep this morning).
