I need to clone a working hard drive (40 mb) to a larger hard drive (250 mb).

Anyone have a preference as to which software to use for cloning. Any hints as to how to do it.

Appreciate any comments about this post.

I suggest Acronis Migrate Easy - worked like a charm for me on my netbook. Used the trial - it's fully functional and the wizard is easy to follow.

    I highly recommend XXclone.

It has several handy features for doing cloning and other operations. I use it to clone my system drive to a second drive and set it up for dual booting. XXclone does that very well.

The free version is all most people need. The paid version does incrementals.

I have also used Migrate Easy. It worked for me without any problems. What I liked, was cloning between disks of different sizes and the easy layout of the program. :)

I recommend CloneZilla Filesystem supported: ext2, ext3, ext4, reiserfs, xfs, jfs of GNU/Linux, FAT, NTFS of MS Windows, and HFS+ of Mac OS.
    or
    Parted Magic. Parted Magic supports fat32, fat16, hfs, hfs+, ntfs, linux-swap, ext2, ext3, ext4, xfs and others.

I ditto Surferdude2. For me, XX is in a class by itself and I would not be without it. I do have the Pro version in both my desktops, as I like the convenience of the incrementals option....forget, they take no time.

Addendum: XXclone also never has a problem with drives of disparate sizes which is what you are dealing with.
