My only complaint is my laptop is slow slow!! But I have it loaded with pic/video and photoshop and the like. If I slim down these things (have another thread on my external drive) is there anything I should be having the GS do for me???

Hi missy77. Why would you want to pay a few hundred dollars for Geek Squad to repair your system when there are a lot of other ways to get free support for your computer issues. What exactly do you want Geek Squad to do with your labtop? Do you want to make your labtop run faster?

I'm with Evan here, the geek squad is just that. Taking advantage of people who don't know other cheaper (often free) and better options.

If it was anything else (eg a car) I'd suggest putting it in for a full service but to be honest I wouldn't trust these people with my calculator. Post here or other reputable boards for assistance and don't be persuaded to start another contract.

This is my personal opinion others may well disagree

Ok. So are you having any other computer issues or were you just wondering whether you should bring your computer into Geek Squad or not?

You say you have lot's of video, pics and programs on your laptop.
Please check your HDD "Total size and Free Space ".
If HDD is past 80 percent capacity, this may slow down reads and writes.

How to improve performance per hardware ..... Just some suggestions.
Consider a SSD, extremely fast drive for a noticeable performance improvement. They are not cheap, but costing is getting to almost acceptable. Any chance your notebook can house 2x drives ??
Increase Ram memory if systems specs warrant / allow it.
For most notebooks, the above two options are about as far as you can go.
Don't purchase this hardware at BB, much better deals online from reputable vendors.
