    Hi all!

I'm giving my mate's computer a bit of a going over. When it's booting up a message comes up "PCI Audio has not been assigned an IRQ ". I've checked all audio devices under Device Manager and there is an entry for PCI164-Q3D Audio Diect Input Driver, which does not have an IRQ assigned. When I go into properties, resources and deselect Use Automatic Settings, there is no other option available.

The audio on their system seems fine, it just annoys the hell out of me seeing this message!

    Can anyone help?

    Thanks,

    Justin

If the sound works, do not worry. This is a legacy warning. In the old days, Sound cards were very demanding about resources and had to have a specified IRQ or they would not work . Now , especially with windows XP and PCI bus mastering, windows manages this at a later time and there is rarely such a thing as a truely dedicated IRQ.
