I open my DELL PowerEdge 2400 Service Tag: JQBR30B? and looked at the Raid controller.

The RAID controller card is ADAPTEC AIC-7897N; attached to this Raid card is AAC-9000MD/DELL (AAC-364/DELL2). Is this a stardard card
for my DELL PowerEdge 2400 system? What is this best firmware for this RAID card? I am running Windows XP pro. Is this RAID card one of the following Controllers?

    SCSI RAID Controllers
    Adaptec PERC2
    Adaptec PERC2/Si
    American Megatrends (AMI) PERC
    American Megatrends (AMI) PERC2/DC
    American Megatrends (AMI) PERC2/SC
    Dell Elite Hard Drive Diagnostics
    LSI Logic PERC3/DC
    LSI Logic PERC3/DCL
    LSI Logic PERC3/QC
    LSI Logic PERC3/SC

    Thank You

The Controller should be listed in Device Manager. If the chip is an Adaptec, it will be one of those two Adeptec listings.

You should have the original drivers CD that came with the computer. You should be able to run that and it should install the correct drivers if they do not happen to show up in Device Manager (Device Manager may list it as an unknown device).

You could try downloading one of the Adaptec files they label "floppy ", unzip it and read the information that they say is contained in it (it may be a Readme file). That may help you identify it.

That Dell Elite Hard Drive Diagnostics would probably list the drives and controllers.

Still stuck, try asking at the Dell Community Forums.

I just looked at the "Identify hardware" on the right-hand side of the download page using your service tag. There is a listing for:
    43JWT ASSEMBLY, CARD (CIRCUIT), CONTROLLER, PERC2, PCI/S, 64-BIT, L

So my best guess would be the Adaptec PERC2.

You could try Everest in my signature. Not certain how it would react to a Dell server system though :)
