What is "Tray Icon" in "Graphics Function"?

    When I right-click on my desktop I am offered "Graphics Options" as an option. "Tray Icon" thence "Enable/Disable" is offered on drilling down. I've experimented with this for a few days and there's been no appreciable change in the functionality of the icons in my system tray or notification area. What does it actually do? Any ideas?
