Hi all - My first ever question posted here is:

After installing an external HDD and moving mp3/photos from the very full original(C) drive I then had about 4GB of space on the C drive.

A few days later I suddenly got a drive full message. On investigation I found a file in WINNNT/TEMP called GLC9.tmp which is 3.75GB in size!!

I know that normally a temp file is not needed but I did not want to delete it without asking the question.

So does anyone know what this file is and is it definatrely safe to delete itr as it is in the temp folder?

The only things I can think of that I have done in this time are:

I did a couple of backups of stuff on C. using NTbackup, backed up to the new drive. One of which was approximately the same size as the temp file.

    I have downloaded a few w2k updates.

    Thanks in advance

    Colin

I can't find any details on anything that resembles your situation.

But caution certainly can't hurt. I think if it were me I'd rename the file to GLC9.tmp.old and relocate it (cut/paste so it is moved) to another folder and see if the system behaves. If so, after a day or so it will be safe to delete the thing.

If you are so low on space you think the system isn't going to work right, you might try a smaller pagefile for a little while just to free up some room.
