I am worried about the size of my hubby's laptop's C:\ (38 Gigs). He does NOT have a lot of software installed. I have not kept track of how big it was when purchased. Just curious, how large is VISTA?

Open Computer, in the left pane right-click on folders, select Properties and it will show you the size.

My Windows folder is over 10GB. Check the Program Files folder. I installed a game the other day and it used 2GB. Check the Users folder and under the user, check the Documents folder and Desktop.

That will give you a good idea of where the space has gone.

    The size of C:\Windows is 15.2GB (32-bit), and my 64-bit clocks in @ 20.2GB. Both Ultimate SP1.

Did you ever run Disk Cleanup?

Thanks to all for your input. I am printing out this thread and will check on laptop ASAP. Sometimes, I can't pry it out of my hubby's hands. LOL!

Arie - I have not used Disk Cleanup ever, either on my desktop or the laptop. I do use CCleaner. Where does Vista store the temp files?

Type %temp% in Vista's Start Search menu & hit Enter.

Disk Cleanup takes care of those too.
