What is the latest version that will install on top of previous version.

What is the latest Seamonkey version that will install right over the version that I have without uninstalling previous version first?
I looked at the install directions for 1.1.14 and they are way beyond my technical capabilities. I did not even understand most of it.


All I want to know is the latest SM that will install right on top of 1.1.7

It is best to uninstall the old version, and install the new one. The new installation will pick up the plugins folder, which are not removed by uninstalling, and the profile, as long as it is the default profile. Nothing technical here.

 

I read the instructions for installing 1.1.4... to me they were very complicated! I do not want 1.1.4!
Earlier versions could be installed right on top of the existing versions without uninstalling anything. I know this because I have done it.
1.1.13 and 1.1.14 require uninstalling first with a lot of other instructions that are meaningless to me...I do NOT want them.

'I need to know the latest version that can be installed "right on top' of 1.1.7. just by clicking the installer.
That is all I want to know...nothing else. Please do not give me any other information to this very straightforward question. I only want to know the version with no other information...

Most of the messages are missing that were posted here so I can't find the one that I need to reply to.
Somebody gave a link to some backup program called MozBackup, but that message has disappeared.
Anyway that program is no good because when I tried to downpoad it it said to download the file that matched my 'architecture' and I had no idea what that would be. It was supposed to be good for SeaMonkey but it is not. Not knowing what they meant by architecture, I tried all of the files. Everyone of them said SeaMonkey did *not know what to do with that type of file. So how could it ever backup SeaMonkey if SM does not know what to do with it?

 

It is up to you. Just run the new version, and see what happens.
I, personally, see little difference between installing on top from uninstalling the old, and ,then, installing the new. There is nothing complicated about it.
And, assuming that you want the Englidh-US version if you download from the site you should be able to install the .exe file.I have no idea why you are having problems. Can you tell us which file you are trying to install?
