Here we go again with NS and IE incompatabilities

If I embed a wav or mp3 file in a document (created with Dreamweaver), IE plays the sound without any questions. NS on the other hand, either plays nothing or wants to download the Apple plugin. I don't want my visitors to download plugins, just a page which displays and the sound plays.

Maybe I should incorporate it into a flash file

    Hey Dr.JB,

NS and IE incompatibilities? Frustrating isn't it, and a thorn in the side of all web authors.

So far, Netscape 6 only recognizes a few players, for embedded sound files. Crescendo 5.1 works for midi files. QuickTime and Shockwave Flash are the other two players that will work.

As far as Flash is concerned, there is always the security issue to consider.

Potential security issue with the stand-alone Macromedia Flash Player

    FWIW,

    Ramona
