    Hi:
I got an update notice on I-Tunes/Quicktime this morning and there was also an option (clicked to download of course) to update/download something called "Bonjour For Windows ". Does anyone here know what this program is?

    Thanks in advance,

    mickey918,

According to the Apple Site, Bonjour For Windows is:

Bonjour, also known as zero-configuration networking, enables automatic discovery of computers, devices, and services on IP networks. Bonjour uses industry standard IP protocols to allow devices to automatically discover each other without the need to enter IP addresses or configure DNS servers. Users running 64-bit versions of Windows XP or Windows Vista can download a compatible version of Bonjour for Windows 1.0.6 here.

Thanks for the info. Looks like a useless service for me. Just eating up memory.

I used to disable Bonjour but some of my programs won't run without it. The TIVO desktop is one of them. I think it's a nuisance, especially since earlier versions of the desktop didn't need it.

You're welcome. For me, I feel the same way as you. Seems like a lot of programs are trying to slip something else into their installs now.
