WLM has completely vanished from my computer and I am unable to re-install using the software file saved on hard drive. Has Microsoft uninstalled WLM from my computer? Can I obtain a substitute software to send/receive my mail?

Thanks for your response lj50. I will or it requires that MSE be uninstalled and then re-installed to enable WLM be re-installed as apparently the software is installed in block. My copy of WLM saved on HD fails to install. I am at a loss as to what caused on this instance, WLM to be erased completely from my computer.

You can choose just to install WLM. Just uncheck the other applications like Messenger, Photo Gallery etc.

Unfortunately this does not apply, as WLM and Writer are greyed out as already installed. Un-tick other four items then greys out install. As said already, search for WLM fails to show any trace of WLM being in computer.

I take it you've already checked Control Panel\Programs and Features.

In control Panel\Programs and Features, there is no reference to WLM. On one instance of WLM install procedure, it showed that it was unsuccessful due to WLMcore.dll was missing. Main stumbling block is not being able to reinstall, is a caption that WLM is currently installed but fails to point out where!

Adding to the above post, click on Windows Essentials and another window will pop up and go from there.

In this case, it goes no where, as it shows WLM is already installed but where?

No solution could be found other than to change to another software.

If WLM is shown as currently installed then it requires MSE to be uninstalled, enabling WLM to be installed, I find this requirement in my case. For a quiet life now using Virginmedia mail browser.
