I just started noticing this problem today. I really can't explain this in words, so I took a screencast: its only 15 seconds. I've never noticed that the window remains until you release the mouse at the new location. I've always had windows move along with the mouse. The outline figure that moves is rather distracting.

I did switch on hardware acceleration for Firefox browser just before I started noticing it, but as you can see this happens with any window, not just a browser window. I have since taken of hardware acceleration, and rebooted, but the problem remains.

Recently I upgraded to 8 gigs of RAM; I have over 5 gigs available right now, so this isn't simply a sluggish machine.

The video worked for me - I see what you mean - you are dragging the outline of the window which is empty until you release the mouse button. I'm sure that is not the default behaviour as I have never seen it thus.

I suspect Evan's link will sort it for you.

The video actually did work but I had to download it on my desktop before it would open.

The link I provided should solve your issue.

That's been a feature that can be toggled ON or OFF since Windows 98.

You know when I resized my C partition I think one or two settings got switched. I had to toggle something else yesterday. Not sure why. I don't recall seeing this before and I freaked out. :D

All is well now. Thanks, everyone.
