I have downloaded the new eTrust EZ Antivirus from Computer Associates, and would like help on what files to scan.

In the older version, you could scan the whole computer or could select certain files such as *.exe, *.vbs, etc.

There is no setting for doing this type of scan in ver7. and it takes 20-30 minutes to scan my computer doing all of the files. I know that bad stuff can only infect certain file types and that is why I liked the old EZ Trust format.

Anybody have a list files that can be infected or a work around?

    thanks in advance

mdinnick--File types that can carry or execute malware are called "executable" file types. A really quick search came up with this list (scroll down a bit).

I am sure you can find others.
Sorry I cannot help you in setting up EZTrust. Don't they have a Help button, an FAQ page, or even Tech Support?

That may be a good thing. A virus may not infect certain files today but that may change tomorrow.

That is why it is VERY important to check for AV updates every day. Two of my machines are set to check at bootup. I keep them that way because I myself do not use them every day and I can't trust the kids to do it.

Vurus checking is not a place to slack off.
