What devices can be networked?

    I have a wireless laptop and do not want to add a but of wire stuff to it. I would like to add these things through my network. What can be networked?

    Printers - I know this one - I have a wireless print servers
    Harddisks ?
    USB Card Readers ?
    DVD Burners ?
    Digicams ?
    Camcorders ?
    Scanners ?

    Any info would be appreciated.

    Hi Anthony,

    You can share you cd-rw drive, DVD drive, cd-rom drive, hard drives, USB drives, but as far as I can tell, you can not share the scanner, digicam (webcam) or the camcorder.

    Some scanners will allow you to network scan. The best tools I've used are "Scan to e-mail" based. You go to the scanner, scan the document, and it is sent to you by e-mail. By the time you get back to your desk, the scanned image is in your inbox. For example HP scanners have this facility (though you have to go through the wizard on the PC attached to the scanner to send the image) and Xerox DocuCenters have it built in (you can scan to e-mail directly from the printer's console). Other systems send the images to file and/or FTP servers. Look at HPs digital sending technology.

    Are you familliar with Blue Tooth technology?
    Basically it's wireless USB and it works very well.
