Ok searching for an External Hardware Based Serial modem (It's going to be used on my triple boot Linux/Win98SE PC mostly for just surfing the net). I found the same model number at 2 different places and 2 different prices, so I'm asking everyone for advice on which one is a better deal.

This one says V.90 with the drivers, serial cable, doesn't mention the power adaptor for $56.00 and is shown as white in color.

This one is $81.00 without the serial cable and says it's V.92 also says black in color.

Now color doesn't matter to me what I want to know is:
    1.) What is V.90 or V.92?
2.) Is it worth the price difference, or would I be better off just buying the cheaper one and get the cable?

To put it simple I guess I'm asking which one you would buy.

    Thanks guys

So a V.92 is faster for uploading and should be the same for downloading compared to a v.90. Still a little tough to decide even though I rarely upload anything.

    Still debating

    Bubba169,

I can tell you that this (The ability to put the modem 'on-hold' when the network indicates that an incoming call is waiting)
part of the v.92 will not work if your phone company does not support call waiting as mine does not.:)
