I have some odd folders in my root directory. They have names that tell me nothing about what they are supposed to do, and they do not let me access anything about them. Now, this is my own computer, I am the administrator, therefore I should be able to access everything on my computer, shouldn't I?

Anyway, I cannot access them, cannot delete them, and the lovely folks at Microsoft tell me anything unless I pony up $49.95. Not my idea of a winning personality.

Here are the names of some of the folders:

    17e305d428a7fa489edc6db1f63373f3
    68cbdcdf91ce481398
    217a14891b5f1fffd717
    315a26c4f32fc4c89c91

I know that my AntiVirus has blocked several takeover attempts from outside my computer, and therefore, I am wondering if these could possibly be virus or trojan related. There are 11 folders in all, and I really wish I knew what should be done with them. I can't delete them (I have tried) I can't view their contents (I have tried). Does anyone have any experience with this, and what is the suggested solution?

Windows updates & dot NET updates create those type of folders.

Wouldn't Disk Cleanup get rid of them once installed? Are they necessary to stay there, and if I can delete them, how do I go about it since Windows won't give me access?

By the way, thanks for the quick response!
