what are RAR files? what is eync?

I have seen RAR files in newsgroups, what are they and how do i "deal" with them?
what are eync type picture files and how do i deal with them?

.rar files are compressed. Sort of the Unix/Linux version of winzip. WinRAR is the most common app to uncompress them. I think XP has a built-in applet that will do either .zip or .rar but I can't say first hand about the .rar files. You can get WinRAR for about $30 from Here.

EYN Bulletin Board Code (EYNC) may be what you are talking about. If so it is another means of making fancy writing on forums. Similar to UBB or the vBcode used on here to make a word bold or red or to make a URL appear like This rather than the whole thing like http://www.windowsbbs.com .
