maybe i didnt explain this right. the folders were put in as part of all of the stuff you get when you buy a computer. their not a virus or they arent doing anything to the computer but i wonder what their function is. plus i have all kinds of anti virus stuff etc protecting my computer. the remote host message happens when im on aol. it doesnt happen when im on another site. so any info would be appreciated.

    weird files

i called my computer tech and she said by themselves the files dont do anything important but when combined they do. she said dont delete them just ignore them if you dont use them. as far as the connection reset by remote host i have my fingers crossed that i was able to solve the problem by monkeying around on the computer. so far so good.

pishbloom2--I have files with these names in C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.5.0_09\lib\zi. This suggests they are not harmful and have something to do with language options in Java. It would not hurt to scan them with your antivirus program or have jotti take a look

    weird folders

i just bought brand new mcafee software for viruses etc and it said everything is a-ok. they werent causing any problems but i just felt they were in there taking up space as i didnt know what they were. they had weird country names in africa, germany, japan, switzerland etc. they must have something to do with language or geography. also now that ive straightened out my upstairs computer my downstairs one which is 10+ years old, its a compact brand with windows 98 any mouse you use in it goes stupid like it has a mind of its own. the pages jump around ,the arrow disappears ,and its annoying. someone thought maybe the usb port or the ps2 port are pooped. would a wireless mouse solve this problem or will i just have the same thing with a new mouse. i bought a wired logitech laser mouse didnt solve it. i found the original mouse that came with it, didnt work. i even tried my dell mouse that im not using no go. if i can solve this problem i will be happy as i will have 2 good computers.

Please start a new thread on this topic - in the Hardware forum.

Raising a new problem under a thread title to which it bears no reference is not only confusing, but is an absolute guarantee that no one will be drawn in to read about it.

I have closed this thread as the original problem has been resolved.
