Did you make any changes to the pc prior to this starting?
What "type" of monitor are you using? Have you check the cable connection from the monitor to the pc?

Hi and welcome to the BBS,

Check that the Monitor model listed is correct. Look at the the back of the monitor for the model. Have you tried the lower refresh rates (as long as there is no flickering). Check that the graphics adapter model is being identified correctly (start/orb, enter dxdiag -> Display tab).

I notice that there is an icon for a set of nForce drivers on your desktop [and it has a Windows "Security Center" overlay on it (which I have not seen before).

When I installed Vista, the basic drivers that were installed were not "adequate ". When I went to the manufacturer's website of my motherboard, there were no Vista drivers available (at that stage). I needed to identify the model of my nVidia chipset (560a), then I went in search of drivers for my graphics card (MSI 7600GS). MSI did not have them so I got them from nVidia.

If the hardware is a "branded" system (Dell, HP, Compaq, Gateway, etc), find the drivers at their website.

I recommend you identify the hardware yourself (don't let software "updaters" do it, unless it is by the manufacturer of the hardware) and find those drivers that are designed for your hardware.

Get the manual for your motherboard and the make/model of the graphics and start there. Don't trust "updaters" (maybe one day they will work correctly )

Yes i have checked the cable, the thing is im using a VGA cable but with a converter that converts to DVI (i got geforce 8800GT which does not support VGA output)

I was playing NWN2 and suddently it becomes like that!!!! ><

I tried it on a different monitor (wif the same cable) its still the same

It looks like a minor problem. Have you adjusted the refresh rate? Have you checked the models (monitor and graphics)?

The graphics drivers from nVidia may be compatible (although I would still see if I could find those offered by the graphics adapter's manufacturer).

Have you looked at updating chipset drivers?

Double-check the suggestions we have made.

Thank you guys so much but i figured that it was in fact the problem with my graphics card - 8800GT alpha dog edition

I tried the card on my friend's computer and same thing happened ! :(
well im getting an exchange now, so hopefully it will be fine

also the card runs at 70 degrees at idle >< thats a bit high isn't it ? (its factory overclocked)

Overclocked means that it will run hotter than standard clocking. You will need to take steps to provide it with more cool air than standard. It probably has a good fan system, but if it is provided with hot/heated air it still won't be cooled correctly. You need to look at moving air through the case to provide cool air.

If you continue to suspect heat problems, things like running with the case open and directing a desk fan into it can give you some leads.

From what I have read the 8800GT is quite a high performance card, that will involve high heat output. You will need to provide adequate cooling for it.

You checked my suggestion about looking for updated chipset drivers at the motherboard manufacturer's website?
