I've got a new PC running Win 7 and IE 8 and about half of the websites I frequently visit won't save my user name/log-in info.

I can't figure out why, because IE is set to accept all cookies (I put it that way precisely to try to solve this problem).

I'm talking about sites like Linkedin.com, Wall Street Journal and other sites I used to have no problem accessing and either being recognized right away or simply having to type a password rather than user name as well.

If I type that into Linkedin, and click "keep me logged in," it won't do any good. The next time I visit I have to do it all over again.

    Any suggestions? Thanks!

Unfortunately, Pete, your suggestion did not work.

I still cannot get the Wall Street Journal or LinkedIn to save my user name, even if I override automatic cookie handling like you recommended.

    Any other ideas?

Pete, I also changed my custom level security to allow automatic logon anywhere, not just in the intranet zone. but that didn't help.

    Weird.

Think I just solved it. I enabled the option to remember passwords and now my login info seems to stick.

I overlooked that option :( - I do not allow IE to remember passwords on the grounds of security and use Roboform instead which requires a password to autofill on the site in question.
