    Dual Boot Win98/WinXP Pro SP-2 2.4GHZ 512MHZ RAM 80GB HDD.
    I.E.6.0
    Version 6.0.2900.2180.xpsp_sp2_rtm.0040803-2158

I have DSL, ZA, NAV. The Router(BEFSR41) has the current firmware, and Norton is up to date.

My Computer Club recently started new Forum Website. I have not been able access this site. I continually see this: “The page cannot be foundâ€. I can access this site at the Local Library so I do know the site is on line and available.

    http://www.cebug.org/forum/
I have this site in my Trusted Site List
It is not in the Restricted Site List
I have tried with Security settings at Custom Level and Default level and still had no success.

The Linksys Router I use only has my PC and one other. The other PC is running Win98 only. It also has I.E6.0. I cannot access the web site from this PC either.

I’ve tried various setting with no success. I've also tried methods from this forum with the suggestions given to others who had a similar situation.

Any & all suggestions to solve this would be appreciated.

Click on start, on run, key in
    Code:
    ipconfig /flushdns
and click OK then try it. If no luck:

Can you get to the site by IP address rather than using the name?

Two quickest ways I can think of to dig out the IP are to open a cmd prompt and
ping www.cebug.org/forum and see if that returns an IP address. It may or may not depending on how it is set up.

If it does not, go to http://www.samspade.org/ssw/download.html and get the free tool from there. You can put in the URL and have it return all sorts of information including the IP address you need to use.

I'm thinking you have some sort of DNS issues with the site.

Newt, I tried all the steps you suggested, but still no go.

I gather I’ll have to call my ISP for some troubleshooting……Correct?
Or is there anything else I should try?

Check the Sam Spade data below. I was surprised at the "Whois" Results.

I had the exact same problems and had tried all that was said here, still didn't work. It was a DNS error. Somehow my DNS numbers were not right on all workstation. I just had my ISP give me new numbers and it worked fine.

    Problem Solved.

Here’s the solution to my being unable to access my clubs forum website:
I advised my service provider of all tests I did locally and what the settings are for my browser security tabs, and that I also tried Firefox with the same negative results. I then suggested that somehow at their end this DNS was either blocked or had a filter set. (I gave them all information that "Sam Spade" Provided). Their checks showed they also could not access the site from their server. They did further checks at their end and today sent me an e-mail with the following results:

I flushed the DNS (ipconfig /flushdns ), cleared all Temp Files & Internet Temporary files.
I now can access my Clubs Forum website. Hope this scenario is also able to help someone else.

Thanks Newt for leading me down that Path.

I sorta suspected that but for some reason, ISPs are reluctant to remove a DNS entry unless you can provide some 'proof' that they have a bad one.

It puzzles me that most are so reluctant because
    - it's a 2 minute job even for a new ISP tech. Less for old hands.
    - the entry is repopulated automatically & correctly on the ISPs DNS server the first time a user surfs to the site

    Newt Thanks.
If I understand the techs e-mail to me, it appears it wasn't a case of a bad one, it was a case of my ISP's Server didn't have it period. Since as he stated hmcltd.net used to host this site and my Isp's server provided secondary dns, which then says to me the since hmcltd.net moved the dns from their sever and my ISP did not, I tried to access a hole or a non existing DNS on my ISP's server. (I think?!)

Whew, I hope that makes sense.

BTW, when I layed out the scenario to them via e-mail, they apparently had one of their supertechs look into it and corrected it the next business day, which I thought was great.
