I can't get my head around this one.

Toshiba Satellite Laptop with Windows 8.1

Will not connect to Virginmedia email either on IE 11 or Chrome. On certain pages it comes up with an error "Can't find line 89" My own Laptop with Win 10 connects effortlessly as does old faithful with XP.
You get the sign in screen and then you are left hanging. ALL other websites appear to be ok. All windows updates are up to date.

    Any ideas?????

    Thanks in advance

Hi Mr Bill & Retired learner,

I can access any web page except for Virginmedia. It has an error message on the homepage and won't connect through to the email page.

    Yours

    Perplexed.

Have you contacted Virgin Media and asked them for help?

I have trawled their FAQ section and have now emailed them for help. Just waiting for a response. I'll keep you posted although it may take a day or three :)

My Father in Law accidentally upgraded his laptop from WIN 8.1 to WIN 10. The problem has now gone and the laptop appears to be stable.

To be fair to him, he wouldn't have a clue. He probably thought the laptop was giving him a command. He can use the laptop quite well surfing the net and even shopping on the net. Technical is not his thing. But he is nearly 77.

I live in a retirement community and have helped more than a dozen people upgrade their units from 7 or 8.1 to 10. In helping people here with their many problems with their computers, I have run across 3 who had "upgraded" their computers to Windows 10 and didn't realize or understand what they had done. That runs a bit contrary to cleaning and updating a unit before the upgrade, but it doesn't seem to have resulted in any major issues.
