The sound on my Dell desktop (Windows 10) works at low levels (upto 3 notiches) of the speaker (although there is slight hum in the background). But when I increase the volume of the speakers even slightly, I hear a loud distorted blaring noise, almost unbearable. After a little investigation, if I disable the Logitech Quickcommunicate STX webcam the sound still works without any distortion. The webcam version 2.5.1, and the Windows device manager says the device is working properly and the driver is uptdate. (It's dated 2008). I couldn't find a more recent driver or anything compatible with Windows 10. I can't use Skype without being able to use it. Please help!

Hi Moorty, In W10 > Sounds > Double click on your Speaker > try in Advanced with variations of the Default Mode. (bit and hertz).
Your 2008 year drivers may be the cause. How old is your Dell Desktop?

Sorry, SuperGeek, as I was trying to say above, the problem doesn't seem to be with the speaker, but the Logitch Michrophone, built in the webcam. I was talking about the drivers for the webcam.

I think I solved the problem by trying various alternatives. If Logitech webcam microphone is enabled in the Sound properties (recording) and muted in Volume mixer, the microphone still works in the webcam and Skype, but does not distort
