We just got a laptop and would like to use it on day trips locally. I know the normal installed programs that do not require internet access will work fine but how do we take web site articles that we are interested in reading with us? Is there a way to download them for later access without an internet connection? Thank you, Jack

Jack57--I personally would click File|Save As when you are viewing the internet site and choose "Web Archive (single file)" .mht in the Save as Type line.
You also could try to set up the website in View Offline. The instructions are a bit lengthy so perhaps easiest to direct you to IE Help.
Click IE Help|Contents and Index. On the Help window type "Offline "|highlight one of the subjects offered , click Display and you will be lead to several procedures for loading the site offline. (Don't overlook the "Related Topics" links.) Theoretically you will be able to not only save the page as you see it, but one or more layers of the active links on the page. This could be an advantage. Personally I have never had much luck in being able to see the page Offline.
If you know you also want to see some of the links on the saved .mht page, refer back to the first paragraph above, and save them also as separate .mht files, since I know the procedure works.
(If you view the saved .mht articles with an internet connection, their links will also be active.)
