    Hi all,

    Is there a list somewhere on this site to warn users of bad downloads and bad websites?

    The reason I ask is because I was looking for SpyBot Search & Destroy a couple of years ago and one of Google's "paid advertisers" was "spywarebot" (or something like that) which was not a legit app and was spyware; which I found out the hard way after it messed up my computer. I wrote to SpyBot S&D, mistakenly thinking it was them, to complain.

    They very graciously wrote back and told me that "spywarebot" was not them and sent me a fairly comprehensive list of malware sites & downloads that are found within Google and other search engines.

    I feel it would benefit users of WBBS if such a list was included in the menu. I have the list and I know there are other readers that could add to it.

    Any interest?

    Unfortunately the bad websites change by the second, maintaining such a list would be impossible, providing a list of genuine malware fighters is not so difficult though, ask on the boards and you'll be given good links.

    @tmarks,

    Great site! I'll be sure to send it out and include it wherever I can.

    @wildfire,

    I can see that now; although the SBS&D people gave me more that tmarks site included. Alas, I'm painfully aware of bad sites.

    What kinda sticks in my craw, though, is that a lot of these sites are (were) listed at the top of Google as paid advertisers: You click; you lose.

    Oh, well, discernment and diligence are the watchwords for the digital age.
