Timely reminder: There is a brand new virus out as of the 18th of Sept. It comes to you in the form of an email from Microsoft notifying you of your need to install a patch to complete your security updates. Don't do it!!! It gives your system a virus known as W32/Swen@MM which attacks your antivirus software and embeds itself in your registry. Then it will begin sending mail using your address everywhere. I began receiving undeliverable messages at the rate of 400/hour since my infestation. I run Norton's antivirus and the bug would not let you scan at all. Kept giving me a Memory access violation kernal32. If you visit the Norton's site, they give you a way to rid the virus from the system. This is lengthy and complicated. I believe I got rid of it on my system using the following method:

Restore your registy to an earlier date (scanreg /restore) from the dos command screen. Restart your computer, uninstall your antivirus software, reinstall it and download the very latest virus definitions. Scan your system and remove those devils.

This worked for me and should work for you on Wind98se.;)

And when you get all that done add MailWasher and Benign From

    AND USE THEM

To further assit in keeping that stuff out of the system.

MailWasher to pre-screen the mail ON THE SEVER and Benign to check the mail as it is downloaded.
