I am back online. Got Ad-aware 2008 and did a full scan. Found 8 malicious objects ranging from 3 to a couple 10's in seriousness. Tried to remove them. Nothing happened. Tried to quarentine them. Nope, nothing. So I hit ignore to see if nothing would happen there. Oops, they left the screen. Now when I do a scan there are 8 ignored objects. Great. What do I do now?

I used Ad-aware 2008 and found 8 malicious files from a factor of 3 up to a couple of 10's. I tried to remove them. Didn't do anything. Tried to quarentine them. Nope wouldn't do anything. So after a while of I got frustrated and hit the ignore button. Whoosh they disappeared from the screen. Now when I scan I get 8 ignored items. Great. What do I do now?

i have recently sovled the problem on a customers pc. the first thing you need 2 do is get a firewall as it is downloading from the internet. C:\WINDOWS\system32\lphcn7rj0era7.exe this file is one of many that needs 2 be removed. i would sugest u get a trial with Avira Premium Security Suite. this has a firewall. i can not tell u exacly what files to remove as the names constantly change. find the file that is trying to conect to the internet and delete it. only after this can you start removing the virus. do a full scan with avira and adaware try and manualy remove all file picked up as the programs may not be able to do this them self.
the virus normaly comes form an email.
    hope this helps

Am unable to run one in safe mode for various reasons. One won't open due to some error (don't know if it is because of the virus or not) Another can't use because the font in safe mode is so huge I cannot access the proper buttons as they are off the page. Yet another was working and then a blue screen saying a problem occurred and windows was going to reboot. But it only went into a loop going back and forth from blue screen warning to reboot (while in safe mode no less). So no I have not done a full virus and malware scan from safe mode.

    Hi All

Hope you don't mind if I step in here.:)

    lvdlr Please do this.

Download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware (MBAM) from here or here and save the file to your desktop.

Double click mbam-setup.exe to install the application.
    • Make sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
    • If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
    • Once the program has loaded, select 'Perform Quick Scan', then click Scan.
    • The scan may take some time to finish,so please be patient.
    • When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
    • Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
    • When disinfection is completed, a log will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to Restart. (See Note below)
    • The log is automatically saved by MBAM and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.
    • Post the entire report in your next reply along with a fresh HijackThis log.

Note: If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you will be presented with 1 of 2 prompts. Click OK to either and let MBAM proceed with the disinfection process. If asked to restart the computer, please do so immediately.

    Now this.

Download ComboFix from Here to your Desktop.

It's best to disable realtime protection applications as they sometimes interfere with the tool.
Check this link for any applicable programs you may have.
    • Close all open programs and windows
    • Double click combofix.exe and follow the prompts.
    • Vista users right click Combofix.exe and select Run As Administrator.
    • When finished, it shall produce a log for you. Post the Combofix log
Note: Do not mouseclick combofix's window while its running. That may cause it to stall

Note - ComboFix may reset a number of Internet Explorer's settings, including making it the default browser.

Note - Combofix makes some changes when run to prevent autorun/autoplay of ALL CDs, floppies and USB devices, to assist with malware removal & increase security. If this is an issue or makes it difficult for you to use those devices, please ask how to reset it.

Please post the MBAM log and the Combofix log.

    Thanks
    Geri

ComboFix is dangerous to run and should be a last resort
