There is a line in TweakUI that asks if you want to display your user name on logon and other places.

I didnt want to so I said NO -- Disaster

When I tried to log on again, I had to click on my User and it did not show. I could not get past that point.

I was ready to call MS for the $35/incident charge.

After a couple of hours of sweating, I tried safe mode which came up missing a lot. But I was able to use my Windows Key, get the start menu > help and support > pick a task and restore from my last good point, which fortunately was just before using TweakUI.

...And the bit I like is from the MS Tweakui download page...

Note We've taken great care to ensure that PowerToys operate as they should, but they are not part of Windows and are not supported by Microsoft. For this reason, Microsoft Technical Support is unable to answer questions about PowerToys. PowerToys are for Windows XP only.

In other words... Don't call us!

That particular tweak is designed to be used if you are also using a standard Win2K logon window where you type in username and password. It is simply a security measure to prevent the last logged on user's name from defaulting into the block.

They really should warn folks about that though.
