I got myself a notebook for xmas w/ built in wirelessG. I drove around the block and windows automatically detected access points as I was driving. In one square block of my residential neighborhood 7 acces points were detected, 5 were secured and 2 were unsecured, windows auto connected to the unsecured points. I tested the connection and was able to browse the www. While wardriving itself is not illegal, I am shocked at the percentage of open access points that are unsecured. Looks like I must now go door to door in my neighborhood w/ laptop in hand to show my neighbors that they have wide open networks. Hmm...looks like I may have found some additional computer work to do locally!

Probably better money if you start a sideline business of installing lead siding on houses (or whatever material will block the signal).
