Hi Guys, I’ve been looking for an ADSL router where the wireless function can be turned on or off by a physical switch on the box. Most of the time I will just have one machine net connected by cable to the router and so will have no need of wireless, but I want to have the option of being able to easily turn on wireless when I want it, without the other computer having to be on. Anyone got or seen a router that has this?

    Cheers.

Should be able to go into the router setup and disable it.

I frequently enable/disable WIFI when college son at home/at school. A couple of mouse clicks in router setup, done. Their may be routers which offer external switch, but if you have router password protected (non-default password) I would hope the switch was disabled.

Cheers guy, I can do it ok through setup from the cable connected computer, but I want to be able to do it without that computer having to be on. Why can’t I find a router with a physical switch on it? Is there some logical reason why no one seems to offer this function? Laptops have a switch to turn off wireless, why not routers? Sounded like a good idea to me.

The logical reason is the cost of the switch the design to get it to work.

If all computers are turned off, unplug the router's power cable:cool:
