I just set up a new computer.

On my other computers, I can hold down the shift key, right-click and get an option to open a command window in whatever folder I have just right-clicked into. On the new computer, I'm getting only an option to open Powershell and I don't want that at all.

I have disabled Powershell in Programs & Features> Turn Windows Features On or Off and I have followed at least twenty links in a Google search only to find that nearly every one tells me to do what I have already done above. I also read that Powershell 2 has been deprecated and that version 5 is current. Still, all the instructions I find that mention a version, mention only version 2.

How can I get my "Open Command Window Here" back on my right-click menu?

You might check out Winaero Tweaker. This is, by far, my favorite Windows tweaker. It is one of the first "tools" I always add to my new builds. Highly recommended.

If you scroll down to the "Context Menu" second, you will see you can add many things to the Context Menu, including two Command prompts, the standard and as Administrator. Nice. You can also add Power Shell as Administrator.

So sorry and thanks for calling this to my attention. I came in about 25 minutes after retiredlearner's post to and started a post to let everyone know I got it resolved and I must have just not hit the Reply button so here it is still stored in my browser, the important part of it anyway:

Sorry to have bothered you guys. I just this minute got it fixed with registry edits offered on this page.
