My question is simple. I want to find out how to get the specific wallpaper on my computer. I downloaded the wallpaper and it never appears on my desktop. What am I doing wrong?

Do you know where the wallpaper that you downloaded is? You need to right click on the desktop and select properties. Then click the desktop tab and find it in the list of wallpapers available. Click on it to select it and then click the apply button. Also, you'll see a box where you can choose to tile, stretch (or something like that) and center. The best way to find out what they do is to try each of them. ;)

You'll only see the wallpaper you downloaded in the list if it's in your windows folder though. There may be a couple other folders that show up there too, I don't remember for sure. But, if the picture you're looking for isn't in the list, you can click the browse button and browse to the folder it's in and then select it there.

There is another way you can get pictures off the net to your desktop though. While viewing the picture in your web browser, click on it with your right mouse button and select "set as background" in the menu. I'm using XP at the moment and I don't remember if it's worded the same in 98 or not. It may say something like "set as wallpaper ". Anyway, if you do that, it'll be set as your wallpaper immediatly. It will show up in the list in the display applet named Internet Explorer wallpaper (I think). There's only one catch to doing it this way. The next time you do it, the new one will be named the same as the old one and the old one will get overwritten so if you want to keep the old one you'll have to rename it in windows explorer before doing it this way again. It'll be located in your windows folder I believe.

In Windows98 you have to sometimes turn-on Active Desktop.
Also another way is to save the picture to your computer then browse to it in display settings to apply it as a wallpaper.
