I upgraded a friend's W7 Home Premium to W10 a few months ago. In the past few days it upgraded on it's own to the Anniversary Edition. I printed a Belarc Advisor assessment and I noted that it shows a Windows 10 (64) key that is different from the key shown on the bottom of the laptop - Windows 7 Home Premium. Does the key designation change when you upgrade from 7 to 10 or 10 Anniversary?

Store bought computers like laptops are installed with a generic/universal key which is always different than the key code on the sticker.

Just hang on to the code on the sticker incase you ever do a fresh install.

    Steve,
Now I know not to rely on the BELARC analysis - but to use the sticker. Thanks.
