My mother in law was infected with the W32.magistr.39921 virus and her computer e-mail it to mine. Norton 2001 intercepted it and asked if I wanted to clean it. I said yes and it did sucessfully. My question is, how do I know for sure if it is gone from my computer? Everything seems to be working OK but is there some way to see if I have been infected? Thank you John

Here's Symantec's page on it. It includes what the worm does, what to look for, and where to look.

    W32.Magistr.39921@mm

The best approach is to run a full scan of all files (not just executables), just to be safe.
