In the control panel\system\advanced\startup and recovery\ within the System failure area, I checked the box for "Automatically Reboot ". Since then, when I have about 3 browser windows and a media player playing streaming music, my PC reboots itself. This happens when I have this particular session open. I understand that thats what I configured to happen but my other option is do a memory dump and gives me the "BLUE SCREEN OF DEATH ". My PC consists of an AMD Athlon XP 1800, 512 MB SDRAM, 20GB Hard Drive, and Broadband connection. Can anyone help me please?

Uncheck the box. It may not stop the problem but will at least allow you to see the specific error message.

Next time it happens, copy down the exact, entire error and post it here.

Or check your event logs for entries that look like they might be related to the crashes and post them here.

Thanks for responding Mr. Vail, Here is the error message I received in it's entirely once I unchecked the box:

    *** STOP: 0x000000D1 (0x00000001, 0xBA5C67E1) DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

    *** ADDRESS BA5C67E1 BASE AT BA5C0000, DATESTAMP 3c9b8d6c - AFD.SYS

Beginning dump of physical memory. Contact your administrator or Technical Support Group.

    That helped.

Take a look at Stop 0x000000D1 or DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL to see how Microsoft suggests troubleshooting this particular nasty.

If that doesn't show you exactly the error you are seeing, a Google search using
    0x000000D1 DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
as your search terms will turn up over 300 other articles - most in English - that deal with variations of the problem.

I think it will be lots faster for you to dig into these yourself than if we tried lots of back & forth on here. But if you get stuck or need more information/help, feel free to post back. You will probably have more detail to share at that point. :D

And after you get it cured, please post back with details.

I removed the memory stick that I had in the PC and replaced it with another. I don't receive anymore errors since replacement. Thanks for your help:) :)
