w2k pro internet connection

w2k pro will not connect to internet:
Normally use Lnksys router in wireless network to connect on cable modem.
Now wont connect. Tried using the cable modem directly to PC still won't work.
Cable modem will work directly to laptop.
Ran adaware and Spybot S&D yesterday. Spybot found webhancer. I quaranteed and deleted it. Notified me that one of the webhancer files was hooked to winsocket.dll and ask if I wanted to delete anyway. Being frustrated at this **** I said yes. When I did a search for winsock.dll it was still in my winnt/system32 folder. Could it be corrupted or is there another problem?

1.6g,512 Ram
have tried it on IE and Mozilla firebird browsers
Have tried all the setings in IE that I think might effect it.
