How do I get to W2K admin section to change a user profile? I studiply did not re-establish cookie protection after a purchase on the internet and a bad site changed the user profile for me (personally, not as admin.) so that I cannot alter the internet tool options? tia - larry

To get admin rights on the PC you will need to be logged on as a user with admin rights. Either the local administrator account, an account that is a member of the local administrators group, or (if on a domain) with an account that has domain admin rights.

Look - I asked simple question - " how do I log on" and I get (1) genuie answer and a (2) smart reply,
If you guys don't want to help - just say so. There is no need to be abusive.
Last question, without spending a lot of money - I am retired - where can I get a copy of a fdisk for W2K? larry

I was only kidding with Newt and I sincerly apologize!

    Please do not be offended!

XP has no Fdisk! Fdisk is normally used to prepare and create!

If ran it can wipe out the disk! XP will do this for you at setup!

To get it though, go to any win95/8 machine look in the windows\ command folder and copy it to a floppy. It is small! You may also wish to get format from the same location!

If you do not have access to a win95/8 computer then go here
    http://www.23cc.com/free-fdisk/

This is a free advanced FDISK!

If you are just trying to resize your disk then find a program called Partition Magic. It in effect will let you use free space on your HD and convert it to a drive or drives while keeping your existing drives!

Normally atfer a HD is already running, FDISK can only be used to give information about the drive or make changes to the MBR which with XP could destroy your disk!

What are you trying to do? Maybe we can advise you on that!

    Mike

    Again, sorry to offend!

lrs - sorry but I don't see any smart remarks that were directed toward you. A couple of joking remarks from Mike to me to Mike that you could easily ignore.

And no idea where the "If you guys don't want to help - just say so" came from. If you check posts by both Mike and me you will find we both answer rather than ask. And answer at length. And spend research time before giving answers.

Helping folks with problems we know about is the only reason either of us visits this forum.

As to your question about fdisk for 2K - there ain't no such animal. Not needed.

As Mike said, if you will state your issue maybe someone can offer a suggestion.

And did you get the original problem fixed?
