No issues on Desktop & laptop - just the netbook to update. Each took ~2 1/2 hrs plus, but my internet connection is only 5.5, hard wired.

Neil, Pete the fastest way to update from v1803 to 1809 is to download the latest Win Update Assistant, run it and let it start to download and then install.

The old Assistant will not handle v1809. If you use Windows Update in Settings, it will take ages and will fail a number of times, still no success, my case.

Using new Assistant just takes 2 - 3 hours at most without any hiccups. And v1809 seems to be bugs free so far too; I hope so. Try it!

As Pete said - it has more to do with your internet speed and traffic at the time of day. My V1809 has taken about an hour to complete on each install.
And v1809 seems to be bugs free so far too; I hope so. Try it!
I have seen reported by How to Geeks that some users are losing their documents and the advice is to backup your documents or sync to One Note.

The great thing i found with v1809 is the reboot; be it from hibernating or fresh reboot, is straight fast.

In v1803, i sometimes has to press the power switch to force stop and reboot again. v1809 in all my attempts on various laptops gives a speedy and hassle free reboot.

Moreover, in my 3 recent experiences; all my files and programs remained intact. So try it.

I too experienced a trouble free installation of v.1809, that is until the next power up of computer and found several of my settings where altered or no longer current. Two examples, at each power up, IE 11 is loaded up on start screen and TLS is no longer current. I have found over several years of various versions Windows updates, these updates caused upsets and it appears these upsets will continue.
