DVD player does not work. Takes CD/DVD. Does nothing. Cannot find settings to make it work.
    Cannot load software.
Before crash, computer and Windows 10 worked fine. Tech installed this edition and no go.
Cannot find "Computer " to get basics.

Boot to the Windows 10 desktop, then launch Device Manager by pressing Windows key + X and clicking Device Manager. Expand DVD/CD-ROM drives, right-click the optical drive listed, then click Uninstall. Exit Device Manager then restart your computer. Windows 10 will detect the drive then reinstall it.

Is there a program for them to play in? Like Windows Media Player or what ever?

    Hi Goaglen,
    What "Software" ?
What W10 Edition ? (Home, Pro.....)
In W10 > RIGHT click on Start > Menu will Display.
In W10 > click on Start > then scroll down the list to > Windows Accessories (Expand)
    Windows Administration Tools (Expand)
    Windows System (Expand).

Pleas update your Profile as it shows your system is W7 64bit.

Yes, sir. No optical drive shown. Not plugged in or not working, apparently.

Thank you all. Problem is hardware, not software. Troubleshooting or purchase next.

Have you looked in Device Manager > View > Show hidden devices?
I would disconnect your Optical drive connections and SHUT down the comp.
Then Start comp again for it to recognize there is NO optical drive.
Shut down comp again and reconnect the drive - then Restart to see if it's recognized.
If it is still not shown - I would suspect cables could be faulty.
