    Hi,
I'm looking for some hints and tips. We're starting a new school with a Windows 2003 Server AD and wireless LAN based on the 802.11A/B/G standards and could use some pointers on how to best set this up.

Specifically I would like some help with finding information on the safest way to setup logon caching for the laptops, in order for our clients to logon using their AD accounts even when they're at home, or just out of range of our network.
Another thing is how best to handle synching of the accounts, we'll of course be synching at logon and logoff, but is it possible to configure it to synch new and or changed documents continuously?

Any other ideas on what to consider and/or avoid (specifically in the way of security) when running a W-LAN, would be appreciated.

I put this in the Windows Server System forum because the relevance to us is in the Windows AD configuration, but if the site admins feel it should be in networking in stead, feel free to move it.

RE: caching - there is an excellent article available from
    http://whitepapers.zdnet.com/whitepaper.aspx?scname=Laptops&docid=85736

You will have to be registered with ZDNet but that's a pretty good idea anyway. You'll also need to register with the folks who offer the actual white paper. After that, they will email you a link (whole thing takes about 2 minutes). It will give you an answer in depth with potential problems and how to deal with them.

Re: Synch - best I know you can do is set to synch when the PC is idle in addition to logon/logoff. Doing it every 10-15 minutes should take care of your needs.
