    Hi,
We used Norton SystemWorks 2006 Premier with Ghost 10 to create a back up of our C Drive (OS drive with Win XP Home, SP2) to a second partition on our hard drive on a NetVista IBM computer.
Ghost noted that the back up (recovery point) was created successfully but there was an "Unexpected VSS Provider Error-See the Application Event Log.â€

In the Event Viewer, the following was noted:
“Volume Shadow Copy Service Error. Error creating the Shadow Copy Provider COM class with CLSID (65ee1dba-8ff4-4a58-ac1c-3470ee2f376a) (0X80040154)
For more Information see Help and Support Center.

    When checked here, we got:
“There is no additional information about this issue in the Error and Event Log Messages or Knowledge Base databases at this time.â€

    In Services:
The "Volume Shadow Copy" is Started and is on Automatic.
The "MS Software Shadow Copy Provider" is Stopped and is on Manual. Switched to Automatic and then tried to start service but got the following: Services "“ "Could not Start the MS Software Shadow Copy Provider Service on Local Computer. Error 1053: The Service did not Respond to the Start or Control Request in a Timely Fashionâ€.

Does anyone know how to correct this problem? Any suggestions would be appreciated.
    Thanks

    Hi Petec,
    Thanks for the reply.
I reviewed the articles on your suggested site. I then went to Windows Update and found the following Software Update:

    Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0; x86 (KB829019)

I downloaded and installed this update but I'm still getting the same error when I try to start "MS Software Shadow Copy Provider ".
