Windows Vista Volume problems: changing volume freezes computer

    I use Windows Vista on my home desktop computer.

    Every time I attempt to turn my volume up it freezes my computer.Can anyone please tell me what is causing this?

    Hi paintpearl. Have you tried updating your sound drivers to the latest version? What sound device are you using? Do you have Windows Vista SP1 installed? Let me know. :)

    Thanks for your help Evan.

    I just went and made sure that my sound drivers are updated.

    I do have Windows Vista SP1 installed.

    Try shutting down all backround programs that are running in the backround in the system tray in the taskbar to avoid any conflicts with your sound river. Chances are one of your installed programs is conflicting with your sound driver. Also go into Control Panel< Add/Remove Programs and remove any programs that you don't use. :)
